Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or voice control.

Our standard

This website is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We also follow several Level AAA practices that help older adults and family caregivers: large text, high contrast, plain language, and large buttons.

What we've done

  • Text is at least 18 pixels. The "Aa" button in the header makes it larger (press it again for larger still), and your browser's zoom works too.
  • Text and controls have strong color contrast, and information is never shown by color alone.
  • Every page has the same navigation, a "Skip to main content" link, and clear headings.
  • Everything works with a keyboard, and the item you're on is always highlighted.
  • Buttons and links are large enough to tap easily on a phone.
  • Photos that carry information have text descriptions. Decorative photos are hidden from screen readers.
  • Nothing moves or plays on its own.
  • Every page is available in English and Spanish.

Known limitations

  • The contact form is provided by Microsoft Forms. If you have trouble with it, call (804) 758-2386 and we'll take your message by phone.
  • Some documents we link to, such as the Medicare GUIDE fact sheet, are PDFs published by other organizations.
